2008 MÜYAP TURKISH MUSIC INDUSTRY AWARDS

MU-YAP Awards Ceremony took place in Lütfü Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Centre at 14th April of 2008. The Minister of Culture and Tourism attended the ceremony.

 

The president of MU-YAP, Mr. Bülent Forta and The Minister of Culture and Tourism Ertuğrul Günay, have invited all music consumers to purchase legal music.  Also they emphasised that copyright awareness should be placed in Turkey and all music users should consume the music by the legal ways.

 MÜ-YAP

MÜ-YAP, which was established on 3 August 2000 in pursuant to the 42nd Section of the Law numbered 5846 with 36 founding members, is a non-profit organisation for the neighbouring rights of phonogram producers.

 OBJECTIVES
Principal founding objectives of MÜ-YAP are:

  • To follow up, collect and distribute the financial rights of the Music Producers that are defined as Neighbouring Rights to the Musical Work Owner, born from the use of sound recordings of Music Works at open-public venues (bars, restaurants, hotels) and due to the broadcasts of radio-television networks for commercial purposes.

  • To prevent unauthorised reproduction of legal musical productions and to fight against piracy.

    MU-YAP TURKISH MUSIC INDUSTRY AWARDS-2006

    MU-YAP Awards took place in Lütfü Kırdar International Convention and Exhibition Centre at 12th April of 2006 with a glorious ceremony.

    The president of MU-YAP, Mr. Bülent Forta has emphasized that piracy has been the most important problem in the music industry and unauthorised usage of music is another negative factor causing loss for the industry.

    The First Long Term Punishment

    The owner of UCAR CD Plant which was producing pirate materials is sentenced to 5 years 7 months, 15 days imprisonment. The court has also sentenced an amount of 160.447 YTL because of hiding the evidences.
